The "Celtic Hatband"
About Our “Celtic Hatbands”: These hand-woven "Celtic Hatbands" are made from a decorative flat plaited knot from the family of knots called "Sinnets". In our variation of the Sinnet, we plait pairs of wires together into a very dense band that is adjustable to fit the 'crown' of any brimmed hat (such as a Cavalier hat) up to 24 inches in circumference allowing an overlap, or greater than 24 inches circumference without overlap. It is presumed that the two ends of the long knot will be positioned in the back of the hat, or along the side if covered with a plume or some other ornament.
We carry two variations of our “Celtic Hatband” - the "6 part" and the "8 part", denoting the width of the knot in wire pairs. Each may be worn by male, female, child or adult and are one-size-fits-all. We feel that the 6-part is best suited for hats worn by women and children, while the 8-part will suit anyone.
